Saturdays for Seniors: Saturday, March 9

Saturdays for Seniors will have a project day on Saturday, March 9. We’ll meet in the church kitchen at 7 a.m. to cook and eat breakfast together before heading out to do minor repairs for clients of Boone County Council on Aging. For more information, contact the church office.

Palm Sunday Plans

Again this year, Calvary will participate in the Ecumenical Palm Sunday gathering, held at the corner of 9th and Broadway on Sunday, March 24th.  This is an opportunity for area churches to relive the events of the first Palm Sunday, and to celebrate our connectedness in Christ.  (Of course, we will still hold our regular Sunday Eucharists at Calvary as well.)  Here is the Palm Sunday Schedule:

8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite 1 at Calvary; 10:15a.m., gather at Calvary to process to Broadway and 9th; 10:45 a.m., Holy Eucharist, Rite 2 at Calvary.  (Please note that our second Eucharist service starts 15 minutes later than normal.)

Calvary Youth Enjoy Game Night

Calvary’s two youth groups enjoyed a game night together this past Sunday.  The junior high group met from 5-7pm; the senior high group from 6-8pm.  From 6-7 pm everyone ate dinner together.  The parish hall was bustling with activities ranging from ping-pong to board games.  It is good to see our youth meeting regularly, and planning exciting events for the future.  We still need more people to sign up to provide Sunday evening meals for our youth groups!  If you would like to help in this way, our EYF ministry would be very grateful!  Please talk to Pastor Cathy if you’d like more details on how to help with meals.

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.  1Timothy 4:12

Lenten Soup Suppers Continue

The fourth of this year’s Lenten Soup Suppers is this Wednesday, March 13th, in the Parish Hall.  We will eat from 6:00-6:45 p.m.   The program will run from 6:45-7:30 p.m.  You may come for either part, or both together.   This week we will talk about letting go of our need to control, and learning to trust God for good outcomes.  Soups have been great, and so has the fellowship!  Hope you can join us for Lenten learning this Wednesday!

Next Scheduled Baptism

The next scheduled baptism at Calvary is Easter Eve, during the Great Vigil.  If you know would like to be baptized, please contact the parish office.
