Welcome Students!

Whether you are new to Columbia, or returning from summer vacation, Calvary welcomes you!  We are a lively, inclusive parish that seeks to “build community in the Spirit of Jesus”.  Our worship is vibrant, and our preaching and teaching thought-provoking.  We offer two rather traditional style services of Holy Eucharist on Sunday mornings, and the Episcopal Campus Ministry offers a service tailored specially for students on Sunday evenings.  We also offer a communion service on Wednesday evenings, at 5:30 p.m.  At Calvary we engage honestly and faithfully with the pressing issues of our day.  We are particularly known in Columbia for our outreach and social ministries.  If you are looking for a church home, or just a place to stop by occasionally on Sundays to recharge and re-focus, we hope you will come visit with us.  May God bless you this coming year.

A Prayer for the Gift of the Spirit

Gracious God, grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know Christ and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things. Amen.

News from Chiapas

News from Chiapas, Mexico

Calvary has been connected for about three years now with parishes in Chiapas, Mexico.  Our connection has been through Dr. Louanna Furbee, who is a regular visitor and lay minister there.  Parishes in the Diocese of Chicago have also been involved.  Part of our goal at Calvary has been to help train medical first responders in a part of the world where medical care is scarce, and where getting care often involves difficult travel.  The following New York Times article is an interesting take on the sort of ministry Calvary has been interested in helping to sponsor: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/14/world/americas/in-mexico-a-healer-who-asks-for-nothing-in-return.html?emc=eta1&_r=0

Mark your Calendars!  Rally Day is Sunday, September 8th.

This will be the day when classes resume for children, youth, and adults.  We are looking forward to a great fall season of learning and discovery here at Calvary!
