Saturday Breakfast Cafe Featured on KOMU

Calvary’s Saturday Morning Breakfast Cafe was recently featured on KOMU TV.  The Cafe has been serving 60 or more people several Saturdays in a row.  Many thanks to the volunteers who prepare the meal, and staff the Cafe, extending the love of Christ to hungry people in our community.  To see the KOMU report, click here: Saturday Cafe

Heavenly Father, in your Word you have given us a vision of
that holy City to which the nations of the world bring their
glory: Behold and visit, we pray, the cities of the earth.
Renew the ties of mutual regard which form our civic life.
Send us honest and able leaders. Enable us to eliminate
poverty, prejudice, and oppression, that peace may prevail
with righteousness, and justice with order, and that men and
women from different cultures and with differing talents may
find with one another the fulfillment of their humanity;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Newcomer Brunch

New To Calvary? Join us for brunch!

If you’ve started attending Calvary within the past year, we invite you to join the clergy and members of the Vestry and Newcomer Committee for brunch this Sunday, September 15th, immediately following the 10:30 a.m. worship service.  Brunch will be upstairs, in our parish hall.  This will be an opportunity to get to know your fellow parishioners, and to ask questions about Calvary, Calvary’s ministries, and how to become a member if you are ready to join.  We hope to see you there!

St. Francis Blessing of the Animals

St. Francis
Blessing of the Animals!
October 4th, 5:30 p.m.

This year’s annual St. Francis Blessing of the Animals service will take place in Calvary’s Memorial Garden at 5:30 pm on the evening of Friday, October 4th.  All friendly animals are welcome!

This year, as part of our celebration of the Feast of St. Francis, our EYF youth are collecting pet food for dogs and cats from now until October 6.  The youth will be donating the pet food to the Central Missouri Humane Society. If you would like to help our furry friends, bring the pet food to church, where there will be a donation box in the foyer.  Or, you can bring it to the special St. Francis service on October 4th!  Thank you!

Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him,
that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

  bible study

We are planning to offer two adult education tracks this fall season.
The first, led by Fr. Knute and others, will be an introduction to the person of Jesus, and what he can mean for our world today.  This course is designed particularly for seekers, and those desiring to renew their faith.
The second track, let by Pastor Cathy and others, will focus on the Biblical meaning of “shalom” in its various aspects, personal, spiritual, and societal.  It will include discussion of spiritual health, physical health, and also discussion of caring for all of creation.  Here are outlines of the two series of classes:

Children’s Ministries News

Children’s Chapel  is from 10:25-11:05 every Sunday.

Each Sunday at 10:25 a.m. this fall, children are invited to the chapel upstairs for their own worship service, with Bible stories, prayer, and songs. The children rejoin their families in the “big” worship service at the time of the Sharing of the Peace.  The chapel staff are eager to welcome children into the fall program.  Parents, please take time to complete your contact information when you bring your children up to chapel, if you haven’t already done so.  Thanks!
