Calvary Participates in Downtown Churches Pulpit Exchange

Thanks, Pastor McEntyre, for joining us at worship yesterday, and bringing your inspiring and thought-provoking message.  We are pleased to be partnering with First Baptist and other downtown churches to sponsor the upcoming “emergent church” conference featuring Dr. Phyllis Tickle.  RevMcIntyre-Greeting

Calvary to Host Diocesan Conference, Saturday, March 8th

Calvary will be hosting the diocesan Making Disciples Conference on Saturday, March 8th, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:15 p.m.  The conference is called, “Holy Dying: a Faithful Approach to End of Life Issues”.  The program will focus on the importance of advance care planning and directives, and how to have helpful discussions with people we love around end of life issues, from the perspective of faith.  Advance registration is required.  Please contact the parish office for more information.

We are also Gearing Up for our Annual Horse Show!

Last year we were voted “Missouri Horse Show of the Year”, and we are gearing up for another great show this year!  Over the last 20 years, the show has enabled Calvary to donate more than a quarter million dollars to important charities!  Click here to see  the Calvary Charity Horse Show website, and learn all about this year’s event.

Pulpit Exchange, Sunday, February 23rd

As part of our preparation for Dr. Phyllis Tickle’s visit to Columbia to speak about “emergent Christianity”, the sponsoring churches have planned a pulpit exchange for Sunday, February 23rd.  The Rev. Carol McEntyre, Senior Pastor at First Baptist, Columbia, will join us for both services as guest preacher.  On that same Sunday, Fr. Knute will be preaching at Broadway Christian Church, another of the sponsoring congregations.  We invite you to come and welcome our guest preacher, as we learn more about the event we are sponsoring together.

Speak with Pastor Cathy if you are not yet on the email list, or if you have any questions.  You can email her here, or connect with her at church, or on Facebook. Friends welcome!

Chili Supper A Success

Thanks to all who helped with Calvary’s Annual Habitat for Humanity Chili Supper

Again this year, we raised over a thousand dollars for Habitat for Humanity–just one more reason to enjoy chili!   Check out this video of Jennifer talking about the Chili Supper on Paul Pepper’s show.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: SUNDAY SERVICES CANCELLED

Dear People of Calvary:
Though the major roads are currently passable, side streets and sidewalks remain very icy, and more precipitation is predicted for this evening, along with very cold temperatures.
To avoid confusion, and for everyone’s safety, we have decided to cancel both morning services tomorrow, Sunday, February 2nd.
Wishing you God’s peace and blessings.  Stay warm!
Fr. Knute
