Calvary News
Sunday, May 27th is Pentecost Sunday!
Sunday, May 27th is the day of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church! It was on this day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, filling them with power to preach the good news of what God has done in Jesus. Come join our celebration as we re-create the scene 2,000 years ago, when the Gospel was heard in many languages. And wear red, to commemorate the coming of God’s Spirit!
Children’s Hand Bells on Mothers Day
On Sunday, May 13th, Calvary’s Children’s Chapel Children will play their color coded handbells to help us celebrate Mothers’ Day. Children should arrive promptly by 10:15 for one last rehearsal before the service. Our youthful bell ringers bring smiles to our faces! See you in church!
Communion Instruction for Children
This Sunday, May 6th, Fr. Knute will be present in Church School and Children’s Chapel to offer communion instruction for children. Fr. Knute will give a tour of the sanctuary, and the sacristy, and will explain the meaning and significance of the sacrament of Holy Communion, in a way young children can understand. Parents are welcome to attend with their children. Sunday school starts at 9:15 a.m., and Children’s Chapel starts at 10:30 a.m. We hope to see you there!
Adult Formation Resumes with Two Offerings
Adult Formation--9:15-10:15 a.m., Sundays:
Jesus came to bring God’s Shalom, and much of his earthly ministry was focused on healing. On Sunday, April 15th, Fr. Knute will introduce a three week adult formation class entitled Spirituality and Health. The class will explore the connections between spirituality and health and well-being.
Our second adult education track will be led by Rick Cotner, and will focus on the Proposed Anglican Covenant. The proposed Covenant is intended to help the various branches of the Anglican Communion hold together, and work together effectively in a time of theological ferment. The proposed Covenant has received mixed reviews, and will be discussed at this year’s General Convention of the Episcopal Church.
