Musical Notes from Calvary

Handbell concert 2012
Handbell Workshop Planned–Mark your Calendars!
Ed Hanson, Calvary’s interim director of music, would like to invite the congregation and friends to attend an informational meeting about handbell ringing that will include some hands-on activities with the bells.  Plans are underway to hold an after-church workshop on Sunday, April 19. Come find out more about the technique of bell ringing, reading music written for handbells, and why handbell ringing is both challenging and fun!  Please save the date if you’re interested, and we hope to have more information about this event in the days ahead!
Calling all Instrumentalists!
Calvary’s music program would like to build a database of instrumentalists who would be willing to enrich our musical offerings here at Calvary.  Woodwinds, strings, brass, percussion – we need you!  If you might be interested in sharing your musical skills at church please email the parish office.   Please put CALVARY MUSIC in the subject line.  Our music director is looking forward to hearing from you!

Calvary to Offer “Dismantling Racism Training”

This important program, offered by the Diocese of Missouri, and co-sponsored by Calvary and Russell Chapel, CME will be offered at Russell Chapel on Friday, January 30th, and Saturday, January 31st.  The program is designed to help participants understand the historical dynamics of race relations in the United States, and provide tools to help dismantle structures of power and privilege that keep us from being the communities Christ calls us to be.  For more information, or to register, please click on the following link:  Dismantling Racism Training

Prayers for our Annual Meeting

Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you
through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him,
that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope
of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and
understanding, be present with those who take counsel
in Calvary Parish for the renewal and mission of your Church.
Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide
us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to
pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.

Annual Meeting Sunday, January 25th

Calvary’s Annual Meeting will be held this coming Sunday, January 25th.  This is an opportunity to hear reports on the ministries and state of the parish, to elect new officers, and to learn about plans for the future.  Best of all, we will be serving donuts from Harold’s, the new donut shop across the street.  Hope to see you Sunday!
