Faith and the Environment Special Event

Do people of faith have a moral responsibility to take care of the environment? If so, what actions should be taken right now?
On Sunday, November 4, at 3:00pm, a forum will focus on the topic of eco-theology, or the relationship between religion and environmental concerns. Westminster College Professor Cliff Cain, who holds doctorates in both theology and environmental science, will focus on what sacred texts from different religions teach about caring for the environment.
Also during the program, individuals from different faith communities in Mid-Missouri will talk about what environmental responsibility means to their faith. Additionally, the program will focus on important things that a person of faith can do right now to care for the environment.
Sunday, November 4, 3:00 – 4:30 pm, First Presbyterian Church, Ramsey Center, 16 Hitt Street, Columbia, MO
Presentations by:
Dr. Cliff Cain, the Harrod-C.S. Lewis Professor of Religious Studies at Westminster College.
Dr. Gordon Brown, Member of First Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Tony Alioto, Member of Show Me Dharma (Buddhism)

Calvary Youth Help People in Need

After enjoying chili together, several members of Calvary’s Episcopal Youth Fellowship helped assemble hygiene kits for people at the Saturday Morning Cafe and Room at the Inn.  100 kits were assembled.  John Jacobson, Calvary’s new youth leader, was present to help lead the project.

Ministry Parade Sunday, October 14

There are many ministries at Calvary, and Sunday, October 14, at the 10:30 service, we will have our annual ministry poster parade to display and bring attention to the many opportunities we have to share our time, talent, and treasure in God’s service.
If you are interested in helping with a ministry at Calvary, please speak to the ministry team leader, or Fr. Knute, or Deacon Janet. They can help you understand how to become more involved. Through our baptismal vows, Christ calls us all into ministry to help serve our community, and build the Body of Christ.
