Calvary Letter to the Editor Published

Part of our responsibility as followers of Jesus is to bear witness to God’s desire that human communities be places of justice where all people can flourish together. Jesus spoke to this issue when he urged us to be “salt”, “light”, and “leaven” in our world.
In this spirit, Calvary’s Dismantling Racism team submitted a letter to the Columbia Missourian. The letter deals with the issue of Community Policing, and is intended to be a helpful and thoughtful contribution to the current discussion.
The letter was published in the Missourian, and I commend it to your consideration. You may read it here: Editorial

All Services Cancelled for Sunday, January 13

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

With much shoveling to do before most of us can even get out our driveways, and more snow predicted, the Sr. Warden and I think it wisest proactively to cancel all services tomorrow, January 13, and try to get the word out well in advance.

Thank you for your understanding.  Stay warm and enjoy the beauty of God’s sparkling creation!

Fr. Knute

Room at the Inn Emergency Winter Shelter is at currently at Broadway Christian Church. The website for RATI – roomattheinncomo.org – contains all the information you will need for volunteer sign-ups, financial donations, supply donations, locations of the shelter, and much, much more.  Calvary is not one of the host sites for RATI this year, but Calvary parishioners volunteer to help with this nightly ministry over the winter months.

Sunday, January 13: The Baptism of Jesus

Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
